Bukkelægeret is the name of the route between Gjendebu and Memurubu
Fjellstue (i.e., mountain lodge). By starting in Gjendebu, you will encounter
a steep ascent from Gjende. Once you are up on Memurutunga, Jotunheimen
becomes fully visible in a splendid panorama. On the direct opposite side,
you can see the impressive peaks of Surtningssue and the glacial-blue
ice masses of the Memurubreen glacier.
You can also try your hand at fishing over 400 metres above Lake Gjende
on top of Memurutunga. The trip takes about 4 to 5 hours total and is
completed with a descent to Memurubu along Sjugurdtind Peak. Here you
will encounter yet another picturesque panorama view. At the peak - as
well as along the entire route down into Memurudalen Valley - you will
enjoy a view down towards Memurubu and southward towards the cyan water
of Lake Gjende. More beautiful views are hard to find. You pass by Muru
once down in the valley and Memurubu is situated another 100 metres further
along.
