Excellent daytrip peak while also being the easternmost peak above 2,300
masl in Norway. Vågå's highest peak. Most of the people who
climb Tjønnholstind start from highway Rv 51 at Vargebakken or
they set up a tent in Leirungsdalen Valley. The peak itself does not appear
to be all that special as seen from the east (the direction from which
it is often climbed), but upon reaching the top you are rewarded with
an incredible view of the whole of Jotunheimen. The peak also affords
you a breathtaking view of the nearly 400 metre vertical drop into Nordre
Tjørnholet. Allow 7 to 8 hours or more for the easiest way to the
top from Rv 51 via the Valdresflya plateau.
